Meet Michelle Wang

2025 Scholarship Recipient

One of 26 awarded a Community Choice scholarship for leading with purpose.

A Commitment to Compassionate Care

At Community Choice Foundation, we proudly support scholars driven by purpose and service. Among this year’s applicants, Michelle Wang from South Lyon stood out—not only for her academic excellence but for her deep commitment to addressing healthcare disparities.

With a degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology and a minor in Gender and Health, Michelle’s passion for equitable healthcare has shaped her experiences. Whether working night shifts in the cardiac ICU at Michigan Medicine or volunteering at Hospitality House in Novi, she has consistently sought opportunities to serve communities in need. Her dedication to tackling food insecurity and improving healthcare access has led her to medical school.

Her acceptance into Wayne State University’s School of Medicine marks a major milestone in her journey. She chose WSU for its location in Detroit—a diverse city with significant healthcare gaps—and its community-focused curriculum. Eager to immerse herself in service-learning, she looks forward to applying her skills in real-world settings while building connections with underserved populations. With interests in both pediatrics and OB/GYN, she hopes to focus on maternal health disparities and, one day, contribute to medical education.

We are honored to support Michelle on this path. Awarding her this scholarship is not just an investment in her education—it is an investment in the care, advocacy, and leadership she will bring to her field and the communities she serves.

Our 2025 scholarship recipients are change makers in the making—each with a unique vision for how they’ll give back to their communities.
