Healing Hands, Giving Heart
At Community Choice Foundation, we seek scholars who embody resilience, passion, and a deep commitment to serving others. Among this year’s applicants, LaCree Taylor from Detroit stood out—not only for her ambition but for the unwavering heart she brings to everything she does.
As a single mother and caretaker for her own mother, who is battling cancer, LaCree’s life is filled with responsibility. Yet, despite the demands of home and full-time work, she remains devoted to her dream of becoming a massage therapist—a path she has pursued for years. Her passion is undeniable, driven by the belief that healing others through touch is more than a profession—it’s her way of pouring love into the world.
However, her journey has not been easy. After three years of perseverance to position herself to make this leap, LaCree has been accepted into Irene’s Myomassology Institute, a place she knew was meant for her the moment she stepped inside. To her, massage therapy is not just about relaxation—it’s about restoring well-being, offering comfort, and providing healing for those in need.
Her commitment to service extends beyond the classroom. At work, she leads initiatives supporting veterans, assisting post-incarceration individuals, and helping communities register to vote. In her free time, she organizes self-care events, funding them largely on her own, to ensure people experiencing hardship find moments of peace. She already has plans to support homeless shelters through her future business, ensuring her impact continues to grow.
We believe in supporting those who uplift others. By awarding LaCree this scholarship, we are not just helping her achieve her dream—we are investing in the countless lives she will touch through her compassion and care.
