Meet Kaylee Chan

2025 Scholarship Recipient

One of 26 awarded a Community Choice scholarship for leading with purpose.

A Scholar with Purpose

At Community Choice Foundation, we seek to empower individuals who are dedicated to making a lasting impact in their communities. Among this year’s awardees is Kaylee Chan from Shelby Township, a driven scholar whose journey exemplifies commitment, curiosity, and an unwavering dedication to public health.

From an early age, Kaylee was captivated by science. A physiology class during her undergraduate years at the University of Michigan sparked a passion for medicine, leading her to enroll in U-M’s Public Health program. That decision shaped her path, fueling her desire to pursue an MD and contribute to medical research that advances public health initiatives.

Her choice to attend Wayne State University was intentional, rooted in her Michigan heritage and deep commitment to serving the community. Located next to the Detroit healthcare system, WSU provides her with unparalleled opportunities to engage in the very field she aspires to influence.

Beyond academics, Kaylee’s dedication to service has been unwavering. She has volunteered in hospital hematology and oncology units, offering compassion to young cancer patients. She has actively worked with sexual assault prevention groups, advocating for awareness and education. Even now, she continues to serve at a student-run free clinic, assisting uninsured patients—a commitment she intends to uphold even after earning her MD.

We are proud to support Kaylee on her journey. Awarding her this scholarship is not just an investment in her future—it is an investment in the lives she will touch and the communities she will strengthen.

Our 2025 scholarship recipients are change makers in the making—each with a unique vision for how they’ll give back to their communities.
