Meet Katherine Zarifah

2025 Scholarship Recipient

One of 26 awarded a Community Choice scholarship for leading with purpose.

A Future of Service and Advocacy

At Community Choice Foundation, we proudly invest in students whose passion for service and commitment to their future reflect our values. This year, we are honored to award a scholarship to Katherine Zarifah from Farmington Hills, whose journey is defined by resilience, compassion, and an unwavering dedication to helping others.

As Katherine prepares to graduate from Michigan State University, she is eager to take the next step toward a career in speech therapy. Her passion for the field began when she witnessed the profound impact of speech pathology on her grandmother, who battled Parkinson’s disease. Watching a speech therapist help her grandmother communicate and regain confidence sparked an interest that led Katherine to change her major just weeks before starting college.

Her decision to attend Western Michigan University for a master’s degree is driven by both academic excellence and a strong connection with its professors and program. She is eager to immerse herself in speech pathology, particularly in a hospital setting where she can work in a fast-paced environment and provide critical care to patients. Beyond that, she aspires to offer free speech therapy to underprivileged individuals, ensuring financial barriers do not prevent people from receiving the support they need.

We are honored to support Katherine’s journey and look forward to seeing the lasting impact she will make in the field of speech pathology and beyond.

Our 2025 scholarship recipients are change makers in the making—each with a unique vision for how they’ll give back to their communities.
