Innovating for a Better Future
At Community Choice Foundation, we proudly support scholars who not only dream big but work relentlessly to make those dreams a reality. This year, we award a scholarship to Jacob Mazelin from Mattawan, a student whose passion for technology, leadership, and service is shaping the future of robotics and community impact.
As he begins his next chapter at the University of Michigan, Jacob will major in Robotics while pursuing minors in Computer Science and Entrepreneurship—an academic path that merges technical expertise with visionary thinking. His goal? To start a robotics company that develops life-saving technology, from robotic rescue dogs for disaster relief to humanoid assistants supporting the elderly in their daily lives. Inspired by entrepreneurs who use their businesses to help people, he envisions a company built on innovation with a purpose.
Jacob’s dedication to service extends far beyond his studies. When he saw local nonprofits struggling with outdated websites, he stepped in to teach and build solutions. He designed websites for his own computer club, a startup nonprofit, and the Mattawan Food Pantry—then expanded the project by involving his club members, passing along his knowledge so others could contribute. Looking ahead, he plans to mentor robotics teams and advocate for STEM education, ensuring future generations have access to the tools and mentorship they need to succeed.
Through robotics, service, and leadership, Jacob embodies the values of Giving Big—not just in words, but in action. He is determined to make a difference, and we are honored to support him in his journey.
