Championing Resilience
At Community Choice Foundation, we seek students who embody resilience, leadership, and a commitment to making a meaningful impact. This year, we proudly award our scholarship to Grant Riley from Flat Rock, whose story exemplifies these values.
Throughout Grant’s journey, he has been confronted by serious health challenges, battling Crohn’s disease and CMO—a rare bone condition. Instead of letting these obstacles define him, Grant transformed these experiences into a powerful initiative: a hospital donation program that has become one of his high school’s largest volunteer events. Providing hygiene products, toys, and personalized notes, this program creates comfort and connection for hospital patients undergoing treatment.
Grant’s dedication to service extends beyond high school. As he prepares to attend Michigan State University to study Marketing with a minor in Sales, he is already working to expand his donation program to a medical facility near campus—ensuring the mission continues throughout college.
Beyond his commitment to community impact, Grant has demonstrated a remarkable drive in academic and professional pursuits. His decision to pursue a Marketing degree with a Sales minor reflects a strategic vision for the future, leading toward a career in pharmaceutical or medical sales—where he aims to bridge healthcare and communication for the benefit of both providers and patients.
