Recognizing Leadership and Commitment
Each year, we honor students who show dedication, leadership, and a commitment to making a difference. This year, we proudly award a scholarship to Cole Starr from Temperance, a senior who has spent years advocating for STEM education and serving his community.
Cole has excelled in academics, athletics, and extracurricular activities throughout high school. He earned recognition as an All-SEC Sportsmanship Award recipient while competing in football and track, but it’s his 12-year involvement in FIRST Robotics transformed his life—helping him overcome shyness and become a team spokesperson. His passion for STEM and technology is leading him to pursue a Computer Science degree at Michigan State University, a perfect fit for his aspirations.
Cole’s commitment to community service is just as strong as his passion for robotics. He has helped organize robotics competitions for middle schoolers, cleaned local highways, and served meals at the Ronald McDonald House. His advocacy extends beyond volunteering—he has spoken with the state legislators in Michigan and Ohio about funding disparities in robotics programs, demonstrating his drive to create lasting change.
Cole remains determined to use his degree to expand STEM outreach and create opportunities for others, and we are proud to support Cole’s journey and look forward to seeing all that he accomplishes.
