Simple guide to debit card limits
Your Community Choice debit card comes with daily limits designed to protect your account, especially if your card is ever lost, stolen, or compromised. These limits are already in place, so there’s nothing you need to activate. They’re automatically helping shield your funds.
Here’s what those limits look like, depending on how you use your card:
- $3,000 per day for signature-based (credit) purchases
These happen when you press “credit” at checkout. No PIN is required, though a signature might be. The funds are placed on hold and withdrawn shortly after. - $620 per day for PIN-based (debit/POS/ATM) transactions
These include transactions where you press “debit” and enter your PIN. The funds are withdrawn from your account immediately. This limit also includes ATM withdrawals. - Online and phone purchases (card not present)
These fall under your $3,000 credit limit. They include any time you order online, by phone, or through the mail — basically, when your card isn’t physically present.

Sometimes you need more flexibility like when you’re traveling, upgrading your appliances, or booking something special. That’s where your Community Choice digital tools come in.
- You can increase your signature-based limit up to $5,000 right in e-Banking. It’s simple, secure, and available anytime — day or night.
- You can increase your PIN-based (debit) limit up to $1,000 in e-Banking as well. Most temporary increases last for 24 hours, making them perfect for one-time purchases or short-term needs. Please contact us for increases higher than $1,000.
