It started the first week of October with helping at local farmer’s markets, at Gleaners Community Food Bank, and cleaning up homes and yards in Detroit with an organization called Life Remodeled.
It ended with bags and bags of donated candy for local Trunk or Treat events and for Soldier's Angels Treats for Troops.
In between, we helped at Macomb Foster Closet, Jackson Interfaith Shelter, Maybury Farms, the Linus Project, and so many more local charities.
What kept us so busy?
October was Give Big Month at Community Choice. While we are committed to helping communities 12 months a year, during one designated month we celebrate our commitment and challenge ourselves to reach as many people and help as many organizations as possible.
And despite the obvious obstacles that 2020 has presented, we are thrilled to announce that our team members logged nearly 1,648.75 hours, and counting, in October.
And even though “Give Big Month” is officially over, we’re not even close to being done.
This month, we’ll be purchasing items for Thanksgiving meals for donation by Woodside Bible Church (complete with turkey and mashed potatoes), we’ll be weeding and cleaning, and we’ll be making monetary donations to our Foundation, which funds our scholarship program. So, I guess you could say, we’ll be helping students attain their dream of higher education.
Community Choice is proud of its commitment to “Give Big” and “Give Back.” These ideals are a part of our organizational vision, and something we take to heart.
We encourage everyone to reach out and give when possible. It might be something simple like a donation or something more personal, like tutoring a child through Zoom or making calls to isolated senior citizens. Whatever your passion, put it to use. The feeling is awesome and the result can change lives.
We’re looking forward to a busy, and enjoyable, last two months of 2020.
