Volunteer Opportunity: Focus: HOPE – Detroit
Focus: HOPE provides food to over 42,000 limited-income seniors in and around Detroit. Each month, seniors receive a box of nonperishable foods and volunteers are the ones who make it happen!
What You’ll Be Doing
Work in groups of up to 30 per assembly line
Cut stock and pack canned foods into boxes as they roll down the line
Unwrap/unbox pallets, collapse boxes for recycling, and handle plastic waste
Expect moderate activity (bending, lifting, moving items)
A full volunteer line can pack 500+ boxes in one shift!
Dress Code
Wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes
Layers are recommended (warehouse temps fluctuate)
No sleeveless shirts, short shorts, or midriff tops
Bring work gloves if you have them
Keep valuables at home, in your car, or on your person
Safety Guidelines
Please stay home if you’re not feeling well or have had a recent COVID-19 exposure
Masks are strongly encouraged inside the building
Handwashing and sanitizer stations available
Age Requirement
Must be 13+ to participate
Minors must be accompanied by a guardian who can sign a printed waiver on-site

Focus: HOPE, 1400 Oakman Boulevard, Detroit MI 48238
Parking: Across the street in the gated lot (entrance on La Salle Blvd. at Oakman).
Do not park in the Early Learning Center lot or between buildings.
