John Krajny never set out to simply “do deals.” For him, banking has always been about people. About listening closely, asking the right questions, and helping business owners make sense of both the opportunities and the pressures that come with running a company.
As Vice President of Commercial Lending at Community Choice Credit Union, John brings over 14 years of experience in banking and finance to his role, along with the steady confidence that comes from truly understanding how businesses grow, stumble, pivot, and succeed. He joined Community Choice because he was drawn to an organization whose values mirrored his own: support the community, build real relationships, and do the right thing for members, even when it’s not the easiest path.
John’s background reflects both discipline and curiosity. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, a foundation that continues to shape how he thinks about business strategy and positioning. Today, he’s in the final stretch of completing his Master of Finance at Walsh College, balancing advanced education with the day-to-day realities of commercial lending. Along the way, he has pursued multiple industry certifications, including Commercial Lending, Credit Analysis, and specialized cannabis banking credentials ‒ not as résumé builders, but as practical tools to better serve an increasingly diverse business landscape.
That diversity is something John encounters every day. His work spans a wide range of industries, from industrial and manufacturing operations to commercial investment properties, restaurants, retail developments, franchise businesses, and tech startups. He has also become a trusted resource for cannabis cultivation and dispensary operations, a complex and highly regulated space that demands both expertise and care. Regardless of industry, the common thread remains the same: business owners looking for a financial partner who understands their goals and respects the work it takes to get there.
What sets John apart is his holistic approach. He doesn’t step in for a single transaction and move on. Instead, he works alongside business members throughout the entire lifecycle of their relationship with Community Choice, from financing and deposit solutions to education, long-term planning, and connections with trusted CUSO partners. His role often involves translating financial concepts into clear, actionable insights, helping business owners feel confident and informed rather than overwhelmed.
That educator’s mindset extends beyond the credit union walls as well. John regularly teaches and presents with local partners including SCORE and Community Choice’s SBA affiliates. Whether he’s walking entrepreneurs through lending options or breaking down the mechanics of SBA financing, his focus remains the same: give business owners the knowledge and tools they need to make strong decisions for their companies and their communities.
For John, this work is deeply personal. Supporting local businesses means supporting the people behind them: the families they employ, the neighborhoods they serve, and the economic fabric that holds communities together. It’s why he approaches each relationship with patience and intention, and why members often see him not just as a lender, but as a trusted advisor.
