Community Choice President and CEO Rob Bava Receives the Distinguished Service Award from the Michigan Credit Union League
We are excited to share some great news from the Michigan credit union community!
Community Choice Credit Union President and CEO Rob Bava has been named the 2026 recipient of the Distinguished Service Award by the Michigan Credit Union League (MCUL). This respected award recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership and a lasting commitment to advancing the credit union movement beyond their own organization.
And if you know Rob, you know this recognition couldn’t be more fitting.

A leader who leads beyond our walls
The Distinguished Service Award honors leaders who consistently go above and beyond in advocacy, collaboration, and service across Michigan’s credit unions. Throughout his career, Rob Bava has been a strong champion for initiatives that expand access to financial services, promote financial well‑being, and strengthen cooperative finance throughout the state.
His work reflects a deep dedication to the values that define credit unions, including people‑first service, community connection, and long‑term positive impact. That commitment has helped elevate not only Community Choice, but the credit union movement as a whole.
In recognizing this year’s honorees, MCUL President and CEO Patty Corkery shared, “Every one of these award winners embodies the heart of the credit union mission. Their leadership, advocacy, innovation and community commitment make Michigan’s credit union movement stronger. We’re honored to recognize their outstanding contributions.”
What this recognition means to Community Choice
At Community Choice, we are proud to be led by someone whose influence extends well beyond our organization. Rob’s recognition by MCUL reflects the role our credit union plays in supporting financial well‑being and strengthening communities across Michigan.
Rob will be formally honored at MCUL’s Annual Convention and Exposition (AC&E) this June in Grand Rapids, where leaders from credit unions across the state will gather to celebrate excellence and service.
