Q4 2025

At Community Choice Credit Union, we believe in the power of giving back—and our Volunteer of the Quarter, Ida Akoto-Wiafe, truly embodies that spirit. A 2025 recipient of a Community Choice Foundation scholarship, Ida has turned gratitude into action, dedicating her time and energy to uplifting her community.

A heart for service
Ida’s passion for service is rooted in a deep sense of responsibility and reciprocity. “I volunteer because I love making a difference in the world I live in,” she says. “I live in a community where I receive from people who give their time, money, strength, and resources to make my life different,” she said. “As I have been able to receive, I should give back tens of thousands to better the lives of others.”
This philosophy has guided her journey, not only as a student but as a changemaker. Through volunteering, Ida has built meaningful connections and inspired others to see service as a powerful tool for transformation.

From scholarship to service
When Ida applied for the Community Choice Foundation scholarship earlier this year, she didn’t expect to be selected. But after receiving the scholarship, she made a personal commitment: to double her community volunteering efforts. That promise quickly became reality when she signed up for her first Community Choice volunteer event at Forgotten Harvest. Ever since that first day, she has become a valued part of the Member Volunteer Program, and she plans to continue that service for many years to come.
While Ida’s journey is just beginning, her impact is already being felt. She continues to volunteer alongside our Community Choice team members, bringing warmth, dedication, and a contagious enthusiasm to every event. Ida notes, “I am proud to call myself part of a team that is committed to Giving Back and Giving Big.” To honor Ida as Volunteer of the Quarter, the Community Choice Foundation donated $1,000 to Love Without Boundaries, a charity that is near and dear to her heart. “For a long time now, it has been my goal to help orphans and children in underserved communities,” Ida says. Love Without Boundaries does just that, and she has found a deep connection to the organization’s founding story and currents efforts.
