Together, WE Made It

Thank you!

On Sept. 30, 2021, donations to the Community Choice Foundation total $100,000 which means we achieved our annual fundraising goal.

And we couldn't be more thrilled!

Thank you to our members and local businesses who generously agreed to partner with us. Thank you to our team members, who worked tirelessly to get the word out and made monetary donations through payroll deductions. Thank you to our past scholars, or our Circle of Scholars; you are tomorrow’s leaders and shining examples of what the Foundation stands for.

As a result of your partnership, each of the 25 scholarships we'll award next May will be fully funded through member donations, and 25 students – high schools seniors, those pursuing higher education, and skilled trade participants – have a brighter future to look forward to.

Team Members CelebratingGiving Big for The Greater Good

While we were optimistic about reaching this goal, we were overwhelmed by how eager members were to show their support for education in the state of Michigan.

Many parents said they were all too familiar with the financial burden higher education creates and wanted to do their part to help other families. Others were familiar with their personal desire to obtain a certificate that could advance their career.
And an overwhelming amount of support came from those who work in or retired from a skilled trade -- they eagerly donated to support this area of need in our state.

You gave in so many ways

You gave a dollar at a time in our lobby Giving Bowls. You gave when you agreed to let us keep the change when cashing checks and with your coin receipts. You gave through your businesses. You gave because you believed strongly in helping a new segment of workers achieve their goals. You gave to honor education and to help the Michigan economy.

You took the credit union philosophy of, “People helping people” and turned that idea into a reality.

One Dollar. One Purpose.

Receiving $100,000 donations for the scholarship program is a big deal to us! Now in its 13th year, Community Choice has always made a financial commitment to fund the program.

Still, at its inception, the goal was always to encourage members to give as little as $1 to support others in the community, just like our founding members did in 1935.

One Commitment to Giving.

Whenever we say "committed," we mean it. Just like our commitment to helping you achieve the life you desire, we're committed to fundraising efforts that will ensure the scholarship program's long-term success, which ultimately means students' future success in Michigan. When students receive one of our scholarships, they pledge to use their education to Give Big™ in Michigan by living and working here after graduation.

In November, the scholarship process will begin again. Those in search of financial support are encouraged to fill out an application. If you’re like Community Choice – you believe in giving your time and talent to make your corner of the world a better place – you already have one of the qualities the Foundation looks for in an applicant.

We’re going to take a few days to celebrate with our team members and even our past scholarship recipients. Then, we’ll refocus and start thinking about how we’ll continue fundraising $100,000 each year.

You can help us get started by creating a recurring donation in e-Banking or with the help of a personal advisor in the member center or our 24/7 Member Contact Center.

Applications for the 2022 Circle of Scholars will be posted on the Foundation website in November.
